Allison Holker Boss is making a significant return to “So You Think You Can Dance” as a judge for the upcoming season 18. This marks her first appearance on the show since the passing of her husband, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, in December 2022. Allison shared her return via an Instagram Story, posting a selfie from her trailer and expressing gratitude to her glam team.
The announcement of Allison joining the judging panel was made in December 2023, continuing the legacy of tWitch, who judged seasons 15 and 17 of the show. Joining her on the panel are Maksim Chmerkovskiy, a fellow alum from “Dancing With the Stars” and newcomer to SYTYCD, and returning judge JoJo Siwa. Nigel Lythgoe, a longtime judge, was initially scheduled to return but exited the show in January following sexual assault allegations.
Both Allison and tWitch began their careers as all-stars on “So You Think You Can Dance” in 2010. Allison later became a professional dancer on “Dancing With the Stars,” while tWitch gained fame as the DJ on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” for nine years until his untimely death at 40.
In May, Allison opened up about the difficulties of moving forward after her husband’s death, emphasizing the joy and love he brought to the world. She expressed her desire for her children to remember their father as the beautiful and joyful person he was.
Reflecting on her grief, Allison shared a poignant moment when she spoke to tWitch under the stars, conveying her emotions of forgiveness, sadness, love, and joy. She believes that the stars are significant as they represent where he is now, finding solace in these conversations.
Allison’s return to “So You Think You Can Dance” not only honors her husband’s legacy but also marks a new chapter in her career, contributing her expertise and passion for dance to the show’s esteemed panel.
